The Blue Heron lives all over the coastal regions of the United States, from the Oregon to Florida, and even in Kansas
and Oklahoma.
Adult Blue Herons can range from 5-8 lbs., and can be as large as 54 inches tall. Their legs are long and
grayish, and the thighs are a shade of red. A blue heron's wingspan can be up to 6 feet in length.
The Blue Heron is blue/gray, with a black stripe above each eye. It has a long bill, which is sharp and allows
the heron to eat a number of foods: from reptiles and amphibians to all sorts of birds and of course, fish. The blue
heron spends the majority of its time hunting for food, whether it's night or day.
An adult blue heron usually nests in trees, and sometimes on the ground. They usually nest in their habitats in
rivers, lakes, and streams.
